UAE weather: What to expect a day after temperatures hit 50.1°C?
Barakah region records lowest temperature at 22.8°C early Saturday morning
DUBAI: A day after the mercury soared to a blistering 50.1°C in Sweihan, residents across the UAE can expect some relief as temperatures are forecast to be slightly lower on Saturday.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the weather will be generally fair with slight fluctuations in daytime heat levels.
Temperature forecast
Today’s maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 48°C in the internal regions, while the minimum will hover around 23°C. Barakah 2, in the Al Dhafra Region, recorded the lowest temperature of the day at 22.8°C at 05:15 UAE local time.
In terms of major cities, Abu Dhabi is forecast to see highs of 43°C and lows of 29°C. Dubai is set to experience similar conditions with a peak of 42°C and a low of 30°C. Sharjah is expected to be slightly warmer with a high of 44°C and a low of 29°C.
Humidity & winds
Humidity will persist over coastal areas, ranging from 15 to 80 percent, especially during the night and into the early hours of Sunday. Winds will be light to moderate in general, with speeds between 10km/h and 25km/h, reaching up to 35km/h in internal areas.
Skies and conditions
The skies are expected to remain clear to partly cloudy, with clouds forming over eastern parts of the country in the afternoon. The overall atmosphere will remain dry during the day, but coastal areas will experience a rise in humidity levels after sunset.
Sea conditions
Maritime conditions remain calm. Both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are predicted to experience slight wave activity, making it relatively safe for coastal operations and recreational activities.
Looking ahead
The forecast for Sunday indicates continued fair weather with partial cloudiness in eastern areas. Early next week, coastal and inland parts of the UAE may experience light fog due to weak surface pressure systems and prevailing humidity.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during the afternoon when temperatures peak, and stay informed through the NCM for updates on changing weather patterns.
